Test Centre campaign driven forward 

West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, has today welcomed news from Transport Ministers that additional support will be given to Penzance Driving Test Centre, which has been operating at much lower capacity in recent years, causing long delays for the hundreds of learner drivers across west Cornwall.  

Andrew’s campaign for expanded capacity at the Penzance Driving Test had the backing of over 1,000 locals who signed his petition to Parliament, which was delivered earlier this year. 

As well as increasing examiner capacity in both Penzance and Camborne, Government Ministers have promised to make it easier for test candidates to choose Penzance as their preferred location, when booking their test online. 

Andrew said, “Though a welcome step forward, we’ll be carefully observing if this makes any significant difference. I hope they’ll keep their foot on the accelerator and ensure this increased capacity is delivered as soon as possible. I’m grateful to all the campaigners and the hundreds of petitioners. It does make a difference”
