Israel has “a right to defend itself”. “That doesn’t give them the right to engage in the cold-blooded slaughter of 11,000 Palestinian children” says George
Today in the House of Commons, Andrew George MP called on the UK Government to act against the Israeli government, rather than merely condemning their actions with words.
“Netanyahu’s far-right regime’s decision to ban the United Nations’ humanitarian aid service (UNWRA) is just the latest example of its utter distain towards the rest of the world. The government’s promise to ‘stand with Israel’ and the mantra that ‘Israel has a right to defend itself’ simply provides them with a ‘comfort blanket’ to act with impunity.
“But when has murdering children in their hospital beds been tantamount to defence? In what way is the cold-blooded slaughter of 11,000 children tantamount to defence?”
The IDF’s intensifying siege of northern Gaza has made a desperate situation for civilians even worse. Palestinians there face a complete lack of food, fuel, water or assistance from civil defence as continued airstrikes bring yet more death and destruction to already smashed cities.
George said:
“We had more words of ‘condemnation’, ‘won’t tolerate’ and ‘grave concern’ in the Commons today. That won’t cut it. I wasn’t alone in parliament today, calling for our government to act, to impose sanctions, to intervene, to make the Israeli government sit up.”
