We stand with Ukraine; congratulations to PM Starmer; those who can contribute most should.
West Cornwall MP urged the Prime Minister to relax his fiscal rules and to ask the wealthiest to contribute most to build UK’s defence capability. See attached. https://fb.watch/y6SDw5udZ3/
Andrew George commended the Prime Minister for his careful diplomacy with the US and his warm support for Ukraine. However, he also urged the PM and Chancellor raise the funds necessary from those with the broadest shoulders. He called for a “coalition of the willing” – those who can afford to contribute more to do so voluntarily, with an opt-out for those who don’t support the defence of the UK and its allies.
Commenting after their Commons exchange, George said, “While President Trump continues to do Putin’s bidding – the truculent withdrawal of military assistance and launching yet another verbal assault on President Zelenskyy – Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been forced into the role of international diplomatic child-minder. He’s so far managed that well, but there’s much more to do.”
