Parliament for the People – Public Meeting with Andrew George MP

Friday 18th July, 7pm – Helston (venue TBC)

Local MP, Andrew George, will host the latest in his series of ‘Parliament for the People’ public meetings next Friday 18th July in Helston.

Parliament will break for its “summer recess” at the end of the month. Andrew is again inviting constituents to come and discuss key local and national issues in an open and accessible forum. The next event will be in Penzance in September.

“These meetings are an important opportunity to stay maintain the conversation with constituents. So I can let people know what’s been happening in Westminster and they can offer feedback,” Andrew said. “At a time when politics can feel distant and unaccountable, I hope this will go some way towards bringing Parliament closer to west Cornwall. I certainly find these events very valuable.”

This meeting will focus on:

  • Meeting local housing need – including what the recent Spending Review means for affordable housing
  • Restoring our NHS – one year on from the General Election and the recently published 10 Year Plan
  • Nature recovery – the potential impact of the new Planning & Infrastructure Bill on our natural environment
  • Middle East – three months on from Andrew’s fact-finding visit to the region
