‘A day for celebration’ – George response to news of Wave 1 funding for Treliske Women & Children’s Hospital 

In response to today’s government announcement that funding for the Women & Children’s Hospital at Treliske has been secured, and will be delivered as part of ‘Wave 1’ of the New Hospital Programme – ie 2025-2030, Commons health select committee and Liberal Democrat MP for the West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly constituency of St Ives, Andrew George said:  

“I congratulate all involved pressing the case for this important hospital investment. It was shocking to discover that the last government failed to budget for their promised investment. This is a day for celebration. We look forward to seeing the project proceed full steam ahead.”  

Andrew George thanked the Health Secretary Wes Streeting in the commons at about 5:20pm. Mr Streeting confirmed the funding and construction start date in 2027-2029.
