West Cornwall Liberal Democrat MP, Andrew George thanked Government Ministers and his MP colleagues for their assistance in helping to get the permissions and clearance needed to allow the four-month-old baby of a Cornishman currently living in Turkey to be permitted to fly back to the UK for an urgent life-saving heart operation.

Mr George said:

“My office and I have been making representations to Government Ministers to make sure entry clearances were granted (as Baby Mav had neither a Passport nor NHS number etc.) and then agreement that the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children would accept Baby Mav as a patient for the life-saving procedure.

“I am grateful that Government Ministers have responded swiftly, and also that my local neighbour colleagues, Jayne Kirkham and Perran Moon, have assisted by reinforcing the urgency of this case with their Labour colleagues running the Department of Health and Social Care.

“We can only hope now that the procedure goes ahead, is successful and that Baby Mav makes a full recovery and leads a happy and healthy life.”
