Rail Fare Increase

The spiralling cost of rail travel is yet another burden on families already struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. It is unacceptable that commuters are expected to pay more for a service plagued by delays, cancellations, and strikes.

My Liberal Democrats parliamentary colleagues and I are calling on the Government to freeze rail fares immediately and reform our broken ticketing system to ensure fair and affordable prices for regular users. We are also pushing for the urgent establishment of a new Railway Agency—a public body that would bring much-needed accountability, put passengers first, and drive real improvements across the network.

Ministers cannot continue to turn a blind eye while people are forced to pay more for less. It’s time for real action to fix our railways.
