EveryDoctor Campaign
As a campaigner for our NHS and a member of the Health Select Committee, I, of course, recognise that our NHS is facing unprecedented pressures, and I am committed to pushing for action to support patients and frontline staff.
The facts speak for themselves. The Conservatives left our NHS in the worst crisis in its 78-year history.
NHS waiting lists have risen to over 7.5 million in England, and staff vacancies stand at over 110,000. The situation in Cornwall is dire, with the Royal Cornwall Hospital struggling under immense pressure, long ambulance delays, and patients unable to access timely care.
Since the EveryDoctor meeting, I have continued to highlight specific challenges facing the NHS in Cornwall, including GP access, ambulance pressures and social care shortages, and supported calls for fair pay for NHS staff and a long-term funding commitment.
My Liberal Democrat parliamentary colleagues and I have consistently called for an urgent NHS rescue plan to address NHS staff pay, a social care workforce plan to ease pressure on hospitals, and immediate action on mental health services to achieve parity with physical health.
