West Cornwall Runners’ tribute to Matt Campbell – 3.7 #MilesForMatt

Posted on: 1st May 2018

Privileged to join Matt Campbell’s Uncle, Steve, and cousin, Zac, at Penrose this morning when we and they ran 3.7 #MilesForMatt .

As you know, Matt tragically died a week today at the London Marathon – 3.7 miles from the finishing line, hence the enthusiasm amongst the running community to show support for the family and their wishes in respect of Matt’s memory and enthusiasm. Steve Campbell told me that made 3.7 miles he’s run in the last 20 years!

The family clearly has a long standing love of and connection with west Cornwall because of Matt.

I’d previously joined many Hayle runners for our usual Sunday morning run – 6 miles up Gypsy Lane, Sithney, Porthleven, Penrose and back to the boating lake where we joined the others for this important event.

Steve also said that the entire family are getting great comfort from the outpouring towards Matt especially the #MilesForMatt campaign which has helped both lift our spirits and put a huge amount of money to the Brathay Trust that works to support underprivileged children.

For anyone that would like to make a donation, Matt’s Just Giving page can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/fund…/mattcampbell-londonmarathon — at Penrose National Trust

Well done organisers.
