Welcome second wind for Wave Hub

West Cornwall MP Andrew George today welcomed the news that the Cornish Wave Hub has been selected to trial floating wind farm technology. The Wave Hub, which feeds into the National Grid, has been confirmed by the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) as the preferred location for its offshore wind floating platform system demonstrator. The installation, which will investigate whether floating wind farms could make a valuable contribution to “greening” Britain’s energy supply, could be up and running as early as 2015.

Mr George, who earlier this month urged Ministers to step up support for wave energy, said: “This is welcome news for the Wave Hub. The potential benefits for energy security and the future of green jobs are clear.”
