Welcome for progress at Wave Hub

West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, has warmly welcomed news that a major utilities company has signed a deal to deploy a wave device at the Wave Hub site off the north coast of St Ives later this year.

Mr George will be meeting the company, Fortum, in the coming weeks to discuss their future plans on the site.

Mr George said, “This is excellent news. Progress with this project may have been slower than anticipated but, where progress is made, it is substantial.

“There’s phenomenal power in the sea, so it’s right that we should give our full support to those who are prepared to risk £multimillion investment seeking to harness that power for the good of our future energy supplies and for future generations.”
