Welcome for Newlyn Green reinstatement
Local MP, Andrew George, welcomed news that, at long last, the battered Newlyn Green will be restored to its former glory.
Mr George had met campaigners and offered support in presenting a petition to Parliament to seek Government monies for the restoration of storm battered Newlyn Green.
The recent announcement by Cornwall Council that it had received promises of sufficient funds from Government to proceed with the reinstatement of the Green, for paths and sea defences has been warmly welcomed by all concerned.
Mr George said: “I had taken up concerns with Government Ministers and the Prime Minister and informed Parliament of the imminent delivery of a substantial petition of local people seeking the full and proper reinstatement of Newlyn Green and the sea defences in that area. This is good news and cannot come too soon.”
