Welcome for Cornwallis Care Quality report
West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, has welcomed the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) Report which shows that Cornwallis Nursing Home in St Ives is fully compliant with quality and safety standards.
The home underwent an unannounced inspection on 14th October by the CQC, whose role is to check whether hospitals, care homes and care services are meeting essential standards.
Mr George, who made a recent visit to the Cornwallis Nursing Home, said: “Cornwallis has experienced a rocky road in the media, which included references to the conviction of an employee who had, in fact, left the home long ago. I am therefore very pleased to receive the CQC report and the reassurances that the home has met all of the required standards. The Report found that the residents’ ‘privacy, dignity and independence were respected.’
“Having made a recent visit to Cornwallis myself, I was pleased to speak to residents and staff and was impressed by what I saw and heard. It is vital that care home standards are upheld. The provision of high quality care is of paramount concern to us all. It is clear that Mr Hulin and his staff share this commitment to high standards of care.”
