The Conservatives are spending tax payers’ money on yet more pre-election bribes
The Conservatives are spending tax payers’ money on yet more pre-election bribes. They had another pre-election splurge with the magic-money-tree this week. The Conservatives say they will spend £billions on towns in marginal Tory-held constituencies like the three here in west Cornwall.
Only the marginal towns of Penzance, St Ives, Camborne and Truro have been granted the chance to claim up to £25 million for each town.
Of course, whatever the motivation behind it, this is welcome news. We should keep a straight face, smile sweetly to the Government and grab the money. Let’s play their game, bag the money for our towns. But above all make sure it’s used most effectively. I will make sure the offer is upheld and that the monies are delivered whatever the outcome of the next election. Cornish towns deserve this funding. Though it’s a pity Johnson and his wealthy friends can’t be forced to honour these pledges out of their own pockets.
