“Room” for policy debate in Christmas card
West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, has circulated his Christmas card to many local residents across West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly over the weekend. Continuing his now traditional “Contrasts at Christmas” he offers local people a “festive quiz” entitled “Room at the Inn…?”
He asks the question “who wants to penalise the poor who (they believe) under occupy their council houses and reward the wealthy who under occupy their second homes?”
Mr George offers the possible answers of “(a) Scrooge? (b) The Grinch? or (c) the Conservatives?”
Mr George, has been leading a campaign to scrap the Conservative inspired “bedroom tax”.
Mr George has also expressed grateful thanks to Sarah Lay of Evocative Cornwall for the kind permission to reproduce two of her photographs of the coastline around the West Cornwall constituency.
Mr George said, “I think it’s appropriate to provoke thought at Christmas. The “No Room at the Inn” theme is one which is also relevant in our time and I hope will give recipients an opportunity to pause for thought”.
