Rail update

Posted on: 18th July 2012

Following his meeting with the Rail Minister, Rt. Hon Theresa Villiers MP, in the Department for Transport yesterday, West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, has today conveyed the concerns of many more of his constituents who are ‘up in arms’ about the risk of cuts to through services between Penzance and Paddington.

Mr George is engaged in a last minute plea to the Minister to listen to the concerns and think again before the offer to tender is published later this week.

Mr George said: “This will affect the whole of Cornwall. Turning Cornwall into a branch line simply sends the wrong message and creates the wrong image; wrong for business, for commuters and for the tourist industry.”
