Pressure mounts against “Regional Pay” in the NHS

Posted on: 19th November 2012

Local MP, Andrew George, will lead a cross party delegation of MPs to see Health Minister, Dr Daniel Poulter, early next month (December 4th), to put pressure on the Government to discourage a South West “Cartel” of NHS Trusts from pressing on with plans to introduce lower regional pay within the South West.

Mr George, who has argued against regional pay, has tabled a Commons motion seeking further support from MPs across the House and will seek to increase pressure on Government Ministers.

Mr George said, “This crazy idea is as unfair as it would be counterproductive.  I hope the Government will use its influence to stop any NHS Foundation Trust from forcing local staff to accept lower pay.”
