Police seeking witnesses following Helston offensive leaflet incident

Posted on: 20th November 2018

Police have confirmed they would like statements from witnesses who were handed leaflets as they entered the venue of a meeting which the local Conservative MP arranged with UKIP in Helston last Friday.

Andrew George (who was a target of the offending leaflet) has confirmed that the Police are seeking statements from witnesses. He reported the incident to the Police shortly after the event and when members of the public who attended the meeting expressed disgust at the contents of the literature.

Mr George said the matter had been given a crime reference number on Saturday and that it would help if this were quoted when approaching the Police. Crime reference – CR/106708/18 and Log 470 17/11/2018.

Mr George has also forwarded the name of one of the alleged perpetrators who the Police will soon interview.
