Parliament Comes To Porthleven
Local MP, Andrew George, is inviting residents in the Helston/Porthleven area to come and meet him at a public meeting in Porthleven Public Hall, next Friday evening, 8th July 2011 at 7.30 pm.
Mr George is holding a series of public meetings around the constituency to give local constituents the opportunity to ask him any questions about the work of the UK’s first Coalition Government since the Second World War, and his approach to the handling of Government policy, local and international issues.
Each meeting is usually chaired by the Chairman of the local Parish Council as was the case at his recent meeting in Mullion at which 40 local residents attended on Friday 17th June 2011.
Mr George said, “Many people ask about the work of an MP and how we are handling the challenge of two parties with often diametrically opposite policies coming together in the national interest. Although it is a challenge, it does show that it is possible to put old fashioned party tribalism aside and to work together by finding a common interest.”
