New push to regenerate Penzance
Local MP, Andrew George, was invited to address local retailers and other businesses at the AGM of Penzance Chamber of Commerce at the Queen’s Hotel, Penzance.
Mr George congratulated the Chamber of Commerce and others involved in the setting up of the Penzance Town Team and is keen to support Penzance and other local towns with their regeneration initiatives.
Mr George Chairs the National Grocery Market Action Group which has successfully campaigned for changes in Government legislation – now supported by all parties – to create a Supermarket Watchdog and has campaigned for fair treatment for town centre retailers and businesses.
Mr George has said that he is keen to work with the Penzance Chamber of Commerce in its future programme to revitalise the town centre; to create a Business Improvement District for Penzance; working with the Scillies to improve transport links at the Islands; support plans for further regeneration projects in Penzance harbour; and to give the town a boost at a time when it faces many challenges from out-of-town retail, internet shopping and other pressures.
