Today, 27 January 2019, marks 74th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. 1.1 million Roma, Gypsies, gays, Jews were murdered there.
Today marks the commemoration of the Holocaust and genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.
The language of hatred must never go unchallenged. Let’s celebrate those who give voice to the voiceless and who work to create and protect a society free from the dangers of persecution and hatred.
It’s hard to believe that 1 in 20 people here believe the Holocaust never happened! The forces of “alternative fact” and “fake news” are as powerful as ever.
