Local MP, Andrew George, completed the Race for Wildlife organised by Mounts Bay Harriers for the Cornwall Wildlife Trust on Sunday, 7th December.

Mr George was sponsored by local retailer Seasalt Clothing to complete the 7.5 miles from Penzance to Ding Dong Mine and back through Bone Valley to Penwith College, where it started.

He said, “I suppose there must be less exhausting ways of demonstrating my support for the excellent work of the Wildlife Trust’, a local charity I’ve supported for decades.

“It was clear that the other runners took the whole thing in their stride. I found it gruelling, but a great relief to finish. Wanting the pain to stop kept me going and hurried me along. It was a privilege to take part alongside some really good competitors. All was in very good humour. My congratulations go to the organisers who did a fantastic job.”

Andrew raised £500 for the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, thanks to the kind sponsorship from Seasalt. The 56 yr old came 76th out of a field of 140 runners in a time of 1hr 2 mins, just over 18 mins behind the winner, Pete Waumsley of the Tamar Trotters.

The Wildlife Trust owns 10 Reserves in Mr George’s Constituency with a total of 627 acres.
