Meeting with WWF and Greenpeace
On Wednesday 13th July, MP for the West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Constituency of St Ives, Andrew George MP will attend a meeting with various environmental NGO groups, including Greenpeace and the WWF.
The meeting will give Mr. George the opportunity to discuss the most recent proposal from the European Commission to reform the Common Fisheries Policy and provide a forum for MP’s to share in the various concepts for European Fisheries from the different environmental groups. The meeting will be attended by representatives from WWF, Greenpeace, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the Marine Conservation Society, ClientEarth and the new economics foundation/OCEAN2012.
Mr George leads the Liberal Democrat Environment Team and has shown a keen interest in fisheries issues over the years. He recently expressed concern on behalf of his constituents that the Governments policy towards inshore fishery would invoke unintended consequences that will be detrimental to this “low-impact and sustainable sector”.
