Making Health Bill “less bad” is better than nothing
Commenting on plans of some Liberal Democrat Peers in the House of Lords bringing forward amendments in this week’s Health Bill debate which would further constrain the impact of the Government’s plans to introduce a market for health care, Liberal Democrat Health Select Committee member, Andrew George MP, welcomed them as “better than nothing”.
Mr George said:
“The Health Bill has virtually no friends or supporters. The Government’s policy has been rejected by almost every clinician and professional group across the health service. It’s possible it may be the most unloved, even hated, piece of legislation in modern political history.
“Anything my Liberal Democrat colleagues in the Lords can do to make the Bill less bad would, of course, be very welcome. It’s better than just letting it sail through.”
