Lottery help for local amateur sports and health clubs

Posted on: 11th April 2012

Local MP, Andrew George, is encouraging local amateur sports and health clubs to be aware of Lottery funding which is available for a wide range of projects and initiatives.

The Places, People, Play scheme is a £135 million Lottery funded programme which is aimed at helping to grow and maintain community sport across the country.

Mr George said: “Times are tough for many local sports clubs and that’s why these Lottery funds are particularly helpful to small sports clubs and organisations wanting to undertake modest projects.

“Many other grant schemes have dried up and, in these times of austerity, it’s good that the Lottery is able to provide indirect aid for grass roots sports and play.”

Funding will be available for a variety of projects from grants for new equipment to investment in new facilities.

Projects must demonstrate a need for funding and further advice is available by calling the funding hotline on 08458 508 508.

The scheme is delivered by Sport England, in partnership with the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association.
