Scillies MP, Andrew George, will hold another public meeting for Islanders during his next visit to the Islands (next Wednesday and Thursday October 1st-2nd).

The public meeting will take place on Wednesday 1st October 2014 in the Wesleyan Chapel, St Mary’s commencing at 7.30pm. It will be chaired by local businessman Tim Guthrie. This is a repeat of Mr George’s previous public meetings, the last of which took place in the same venue in July.

Mr George said, “These meetings provide an ideal opportunity to hear about local concerns and for me to explain what I have been doing in Parliament on behalf of Island constituents; including the progress of my Private Member’s Bill of Affordable Homes, which successfully received its Second Reading in Parliament earlier this month, and the recent vote on UK involvement in military action against IS.

“Of course, many other issues have been raised by island residents in recent months: on matters ranging from access to health services, plans for a new helicopter service, road maintenance, the role of the Duchy, Coastguard services, sea and air transport, the St Mary’s and Penzance harbour developments, water and drainage issues and local planning and housing matters.”

Mr George will also be making other visits, holding other meetings and a casework surgery – while he is on the islands.

The casework surgery is confirmed for Wednesday 1st October 2014 from 10.30am until 12 noon at The Manse Room, Church Street, St Mary’s.
