Local MP backs pharmacy’s role in increasing quality of patient care
Andrew George MP visited a Hayle pharmacy this week to give his support to pharmacists and call attention to the NHS services available from pharmacies.
Neil Cameron, the pharmacist at Boots in Hayle, gave the local MP a guided tour and demonstrated the range of health services available including a Minor Ailments Scheme, medicines waste management, Medicines Use Reviews, the New Medicine Service and Emergency Hormonal Contraception.
Neil Cameron commented, “We appreciated Andrew George’s visit and are glad to see that he values the important role that pharmacists can play in the UK’s healthcare system. Mr George was impressed to see the range of services offered by community pharmacies, and expressed his keenness for pharmacy to integrate with other healthcare professions to provide even higher levels of patient care.”
Mr George put his support behind pharmacies, saying: “Pharmacies are essential partners in keeping local people healthy. They help people take their wellbeing into their own hands. It was great to be invited to meet many of those who work at Boots at Marsh Lane, Hayle. They were friendly and committed. The range of public health services offered by pharmacies is impressive and a testament to the important role pharmacists perform.”
