Investment in the NHS

Posted on: 15th August 2019

I’m grateful the local Conservative MP drew attention to my comments about the importance of investment in the NHS in his column last week. I’ll leave you to decide whether he misunderstood or deliberately misrepresented what I said. But I don’t apologise for saying that proper investment in our NHS is a higher priority than using public funds to attempt to save Tory marginal seats.

It is scandalous that Treliske’s inadequate Maternity wing has not been replaced before now. That women should have to go through the second and third stages of labour in cramped rooms designed for the first stage is unacceptable. In stead of attempting to deflect criticism Conservative MPs should apologise to these women and to the midwives and doctors who manage these situations so professionally.
