Hope for Hospital debt write-off

Posted on: 17th July 2012

Health Secretary, Rt. Hon Andrew Lansley MP, has indicated that his Department would review the possibility of writing off the debt of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust should it succeed in its bid to become a Foundation Trust.

He made his statement during Health Questions today.

Andrew George, MP for the West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly constituency of St Ives, said: “This legacy debt was built up at a time when Cornwall’s health service was severely underfunded. It would be the only right and proper thing to do.”
