George welcomes Vince Cable to view major space science growth opportunity at Goonhilly

West Cornwall MP, Andrew George welcomed Business Secretary, Dr Vince Cable MP to Goonhilly Space Science and Satellite Earth Station yesterday (4/9/14).

Mr George has given very strong backing for ambitious plans to establish Goonhilly as a world leading space science and satellite communication centre and a source of significant well-paid year-round jobs. Mr George has also supported the plans by companies who are developing plans for Goonhilly as world leading space science and satellite communication centre

Mr George said, “These are exciting times for Goonhilly. I’m grateful to my friend, Vince Cable, for making it to Goonhilly to witness for himself the commencement of the next phase of important developments and investment in the site.

“The potential for business and jobs growth are tremendous. The space sector is one of the most rapidly growing in the world economy and Goonhilly provides the UK with a facility which could corner a healthy share of this growing market.

Dr Cable joined Mr George at Goonhilly Earth Station Limited where he met site owners and Company Directors, Ian Jones, Piran Trezise and Steve Jones to view plans for their plans for Sat Comms development and Deep Space and Space Science Research on their 167 acre site.
