George to lead debate on Green Energy

Posted on: 17th April 2013

West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, will lead a debate in the House of Commons this afternoon on Government policy for green energy.

Renewable and low carbon energy businesses generate over £98 billion in sales and employ 735,000 people. These are more jobs than the entire UK automotive and telecom sectors combined.

Major investors are asking the Government to clarify its plans on green energy generation. This would provide the confidence and certainty that would encourage significant investment in the UK and generate thousands of green jobs.

Mr George will specifically raise the need for the Government to provide more support to the West Cornwall Wave Hub Project, the plug of which is situated 10km north of his St Ives constituency.
