George opens ‘Pub is the Hub’ in Ashton
Villagers watch as ‘Pub in the Hub’ is officially opened
West Cornwall MP, Andrew George, has (on Friday 20th February) formally opened the ‘Pub is The Hub’ community shop at The Lion and Lamb in Ashton. The Pub is the Hub is a not for profit initiative which has provided The Lion and Lamb with support to enable a community shop to be set up at the site of the pub. The community shop will be staffed by volunteers. Ashton lost its Post Office and shop four years ago after the last Government carried out a programme of closures.
Mr George said, “Congratulations and thanks must go to Graham and Elaine Martin for their initiative. It is great to see that Ashton gets its shop back. Recognition must also go to those volunteers who will staff the shop. I wish them well.”
