George – campaign against regional pay goes on
West Cornwall MP Andrew George is pressing South West NHS Trust employers to completely abandon any remaining plans to introduce lower regional pay for health workers in the region. He argues that Trusts have still “kept the door open” to lower pay variations if Trust Chiefs deem that the national negotiations are not ‘fit for purpose’. He believes such a plan will demoralise staff and impoverish the economy.
Mr George, who is leading the cross-party group of South West MPs opposing regional pay, has written to Health Ministers, and is encouraging fellow MPs to write to their local trusts, urging them to reconsider the introduction of regional pay.
