Future for farming in Penwith – Farmers’ Meeting Friday 15th March

Andrew George MP will speak to local farmers at an event in Zennor tomorrow (Friday 15th March).

The 4th West Penwith Farmers’ Customer Focus Group Meeting will be held at the Tinner’s Arms from 12.30pm.

Mr George, who has had a leading role for the Liberal Democrats on Rural Affairs and has led the successful campaign to introduce a Supermarket Watchdog to protect farmers and growers from bully-boy tactics exposed by a recent Competition Authority Inquiry, will speak on a number of issues including the forthcoming reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, the Single Payment Scheme and life for Penwith Farmers beyond the Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA) designation.

Also attending the meeting will be the Chairman of Natural England, Poul Christensen.
