Former MP and NHS campaigner, Andrew George will this week announce the launch of a campaign to “Save our NHS” along with senior clinicians, and a cross-Party team of fellow campaigners.

They will call for 20% more funding for the NHS by 2020 and launch a Charter of ‘demands’ in the lead-up to public events around the time of the NHS’s 70th Birthday – on 30th June and the birthday itself on 5th July.

Mr George said, “The NHS is in crisis. Locally the perpetual pressure on Treliske, the closure of Edward Hain, Fowey and other hospitals, the threat to Helston Community Hospital at a time when there’s a serious shortage of NHS beds in Cornwall all point to a service which cannot cope.

“The NHS cannot carry on like this.”
