Co-operative Ethical Operating Plan

On  Thursday 7th July, the Member for the West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Constituency of St Ives, Andrew George MP, attended an event concerning the new Ethical Operating Plan launched by the Co-operative group.

The group plans to increase its membership from 6 million to 20 million and double its support for green energy to £1bn. In addition, it will increase its involvement with schools and create 2,000 apprenticeships in the next few years, as well as invest £5m a year to tackle poverty around its stores and branches. The new operating plan also includes targets to cut operational carbon emissions and increase the number of fair-trade products available.

Mr. George leads the Liberal Democrat Environment Team and chairs GMAG.
