Choice and Competition In Healthcare

Posted on: 21st June 2011

This morning, Andrew George MP  joined a meeting to discuss ‘Choice and Competition in the NHS’

The event was hosted by John Fingleton, Chief Executive, Office of Fair Trading, Lord Carter of Coles, and Andrew Taylor, Chief Executive, Cooperation and Competition Panel.

The OFT has been assessing the role of the private market, whilst the CCP has examined choice and competition in elective NHS services. Both studies are near to publication, and will provide critical guidance to policymakers, commissioners and providers.

Andrew George MP is a member of the Health Select Committee, and has been a vocal opponent of the controversial Health and Social Care Bill.
