I welcome the outcome of the Carbis Bay Hotel’s appeal against enforcement action. It is of course correct that this illegal development is demolished immediately. It will send a helpful message to others who attempt to bypass proper procedure or who believe they are above the rules.

The Hotel could go further and help to repair the damage by donating any retrievable and reusable building materials to charities who are struggling with high post-Brexit construction material costs to deliver affordable homes for locals; and they could also pay back the more than half a million pounds of public funds offered to them in 2014 for a project which was supposed to deliver community benefit, but which, as far as I can see, has never been delivered.
