Andrew George MP ‘Over the moon’ at news on Goonhilly Space project

Posted on: 31st October 2011

The MP for the West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly constituency of St Ives, Andrew George, will hail the good news that the Government is expected to commit Regional Growth Fund to support an exciting and ground-breaking deep space research project based at Goonhilly.

Goonhilly Earth Station Limited has been working with the local MP to develop the project and to advance the case for investment in the former BT satellite earth station at Goonhilly – breathing new life into old satellite dishes, most of which were destined to be bulldozed, with a few remaining structures to be maintained as listed structures.

Mr George said, “This is a real jobs boost for the area. It will breathe new life into the local economy and help give the UK a competitive edge in an emerging market.”
