EDM | Action Mesothelioma Day

Andrew George MP has signed EDM2056. Motion reads:

“That this House congratulates the many asbestos support groups throughout the country who on 1 July 2011 came together to remember the thousands of people who have died of mesothelioma, an asbestos-related disease for which there is no cure; expresses concern that the British mesothelioma death rate is the highest in the world; is concerned at this and the rising number of deaths of teachers and other support workers working in schools due to the large number of schools which still contain asbestos; commends the work of the Asbestos in Schools Group; and calls on the Government to adopt US-style policies of disclosure with local authorities and governors, providing an annual update to parents and teachers on the condition and management of asbestos in schools.”
