Paddy gives campaign boost

19.03.2010  Former Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Rt. Hon Lord Paddy Ashdown, visited Penzance on Thursday to meet Party members and supporters.

He told his audience in Penzance that the Liberal Democrats were well placed to make further gains around the country and to become a leading force in British politics in the years ahead. 

Getting policy right on the economy is going to be crucial, according to Lord Ashdown. The Liberal Democrats, under the economic stewardship of the very highly respected Dr Vince Cable – the Party’s Shadow Chancellor – have established the greatest credibility amongst economic commentators, the City and the general public.

Mr Ashdown added: “Andrew George has been an outstanding Member of Parliament for West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. He is well respected for his determination and for getting things done. It is good to meet such a motivated team of people who are looking forward to the forthcoming campaign and with a strong message for the local community.”
