George praises work of rehabilitation retreat

15.03.2010  Local MP, Andrew George, praised the work of the Bosence Farm Community when he visited the charity which is located between Relubbus and Townshend this morning.

Mr George, who was a member of Penwith Housing Concern which originally set up the retreat in the mid 90s was pleased to see the progress which had been made. Mr George is a Patron of the Trust.

He also visited the new detoxification rehabilitation centre – Boswyns - which will provide support for 15 residents going through a month long intensive rehabilitation course on the Bosence site. This will open in a couple of months time.

Mr George said, “The work of Bosence is invaluable. Whilst, of course, every effort must be made to steer people away from drug and alcohol addiction in the first place, helping those recovering from their addiction should not be overlooked.

“Thousands of people have now benefited from the work of Bosence. It provides a vital source of support locally and is also recognised for its work amongst experts in other parts of the country. I understand that very few of those who successfully complete the course revert back to a life of addiction.

“The detox centre, Boswyns, will add a very helpful dimension to the important work of Bosence.”
