The West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Constituency of St Ives is more than statistics and economics. It is quite simply one of the finest parts of Britain. The beauty of its coast and moors is world famous. The pride, hospitality and enterprise of its people are as legendary as its origins. It was the Cornish, who having kick-started the Industrial Revolution in the UK, took their skills and knowledge around the world to show other nations the way. Today parts of Cornwall are post-industrial landscapes, but perhaps the 'Green Peninsula' (with the resources of wind, tide and the proven qualities of its people) could point Britain towards a more sustainable future.
